Full STEAM Ahead! What is a Makerspace?

It's a library and it's a STEAM lab....it's a makerspace!  So what does this mean?

Our Woodbury Heights school library has had an overhaul that gave it more space and a bit more of an open floor plan.  While the students will still be switching books, they won't be coming down for traditional Library classes. Instead, students in grades K-4 will be participating creatively in STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics. They will be doing this in what we fondly refer to as our makerspace.

Your children will be learning the engineering process from the ground up...because even the youngest of learners can build and create!  We will be using many tools: drawing, adhesives, paper, reusable materials....even candy.  We will begin researching to find out how innovative, creative thinkers can change the world around them. Older students will be using chromebooks to research before designing during our design challenge time.

Full STEAM ahead!  It's time for a great year!
